SPECIAL EVENTS
Guests of Victory Gardens Theater’s Special Events enjoy quite unique, highly theatrical evenings while knowing their participation directly supports the Theater’s artistic, educational and community engagement programs. We invite you to join us at our one-of-a-kind events during the 2008-2009 season:
THE 19th ANNUAL CHICAGO STORIES BENEFIT: Friday, May 1, 2009
The 19th annual Chicago Stories benefit is perfectly tailored to both Victory Gardens Theater’s dedication to the playwright and to its mission of producing new works. Three celebrities with Chicago connections are invited to write 10-minute plays on subjects of their choice. These plays are cast with professional actors and directed by Victory Gardens Theater’s Artistic Director Dennis Zacek. These unique world premiere productions are performed as part of a gala evening with 500 VIP guests, which includes wonderful live and silent auctions and a gourmet three-course dinner in the Four Seasons’ Grand Ballroom.
THE 27th CASTING AUCTION BENEFIT: Saturday, November 15, 2008
MAME PERFORMANCES: Friday, February 20 and Saturday, February 21, 2009
38 Victory Gardens supporters bid their way to play the colorful characters in the classic musical MAME at Victory Gardens Theater's one-of-a-kind fundraising event! Roles were sold to the highest bidders in November during one of Chicago's most unique auctions. Then the newly-formed cast rehearsed for three months under the direction of Artistic Director Dennis Zacek preparing for their two nights of fame in Mame. And on February 20th and 21st the cast - including doctors, teachers, lawyers, parents, grandparents and children - performed to roaring audiences of over 800 friends and family members.
LONDON THEATER TOUR: December 28, 2008 – January 4, 2009
